NRM Science Forum 2009

The first NRM Research Alliance Science Forum was held on Thursday 12th November, 10.00am - 5.00pm, at the Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta. It was well attended with over 80 participants and featured 16 research presentations. The audience included NRM Board Members and staff from the Eyre Peninsula, SA Arid Lands and Northern & Yorke NRM Boards, agency staff, staff from commercial enterprises working in the region, community network members, landholders and NRM volunteers from the three nearby regions.

Presentation topics ranged from various means of engaging landholders and communities in NRM, risks associated with climate change, carbon market opportunities, sustainable landscapes, rangelands management, biodiversity protection and feral animal management. Speakers came from many organisations including the SAAL NRM Board, DEH, DWLBC, PIRSA (Rural Solutions), the Agricultural Excellence Alliance, CSIRO, and Ecological Horizons.
